I'm looking for a cheaper option which will allow me to paint over the already existing ceramic floor tiles in my bathroom and laundry instead of having to rip them up and replace them with new tiles. Can you please advise if there is a product that is easily available (something similar as the product that you use to paint over existing ceramic wall tiles????Is there a product available to paint ceramic FLOOR tiles in wet areas?
try using a shellac primer such as zinser BIN.
fast drying and veryhard after three days. also buy some household amonia to clean the brushes after.
then use floor paint (not sure what brands are available in your country)
another option would be to use an expoxy resin floor paint with out using BIN.
make sure that the floor is clean and dry ( use meths to degrease them)Is there a product available to paint ceramic FLOOR tiles in wet areas?
whatever you use to paint over tile will eventually chip up and be horrific it is highly recomended to rip it up and replace
here's a link to some ideas on ebay.
I have to agree, no matter what the paint manufacture states, painting ceramic tile doesn't last. Tile has a baked on finish, you would have to sand this finish off, clean with an acid product, prime with a good primer ( Zinser ) then paint with no guarantees it will stay. A pro would charge you about $ 2 - 3 per square foot to remove, and another $ 3.50 - 4.00 to install new. A cheap cost for all the work of painting them. If you still want to proceed with paint, be sure to use a two part epoxy, this would last the longest. ( maybe a year )
Good Luck !
