I have 12'; tiles in my kitchen, and they are in perfect shape, but they have a light pinkish hue, and the color is just horrible. I don't want to have to rip up the old ones, because it's a big room. Anyone? Can I somehow paint or stain a tile floor?
Can't stain... You can technically paint them with the sort of latex enamel ';reglazing'; kits like are used for bathroom walls/tubs. However, because of the high traffic you get in a kitchen, I wouldn't recommend it. Ripping up the old ones is your best option if you want to do new tile. Technically, you can lay cement board over it and then tile over that, but um... not really the best idea since you'll add about 1'; of height to the floor and it can be weird... plus it may have some structural issues in doing that anyway (not standard practice to say the least).
You CAN install floating laminate (the click-in kind, not glued or nailed) over tile. That's probably your best and most practical solution if you don't want to rip out the tile -- it's durable, can be cheap, comes in a variety of colors/textures/styles, and relatively easy to take out if you decide you want to rip out/replace the tile later. Can I somehow paint or stain a tile floor?
no, sorry. The only option is to cover them with carpet (weird in a kitchen) or tear them up and replace them.
