Best ways to remove oil and paint from cement garage floor?

House we moved into has a nice 2 car garage, but the floor is stained in several places with oil or paint. Some of the stains could also be from paint thinner or similar substance. Since I've never dealt with this before, thought someone out there might know the answer to this problem.Best ways to remove oil and paint from cement garage floor?
You aren't saying if you want to paint to a uniform appearance. If you just want it clean scrape off as much as will come off easily. Use a degreaser such as Simple Green used full strength, to remove oil and grease. Use paint remover on the paint. Most stains won't come out of concrete. I moved into a house where dogs had been kept in the garage for a long time and cleaned and repeatedly bleached the floor to kill the smell. The stains remained. Etching is great for opening the pores for new paint or stain, but you should visit a store like Home Depo or equivalent and talk with them about what you want to do. Muriatic acid will etch the concrete and may not remove the oil. Try this on the oil spot.: Buy a bag of clay type cat litter, pulverize it on the oil spot with the toe of an old shoe. Really grind it into the spot. The clay will absorb the oil, just sweep it up. For paint: Remove what you can with a putty knife, then try the kitty litter on the spot. Light sandpaper may work on the spot as well.
I have been told that Wal Mart sells something that will clean


up oil stains etc. I am in the same boat. I bought my house and there are thick oil stains on both sides of the garage. I haven't got around to doing that yet, so maybe you will get some better answers.
get a bag of oil dry( napa auto stores sells it) looks like cat litter


sprinkle on oil stain rub it in with your shoes,for the paint try GOOF OFF home depot sells it ,use wire brush, to finish use a power washer at least 2500 psi sounds,like a lot to do but believe me it works have used this method many times
Muriatic acid may work well for you, it should be available at Lowe's/Home Depot etc.
