What colour floor paint should I use for my workshop floor?

Hi all,

I'm about to start painting my workshop floor. And I'm considering going with a light grey colour (color in the US...).

I want something that will reflect light in the area, but will also make it easier to find dropped screws, nuts %26amp; bolts etc.

Would light-grey do the job? What do professional laboratories, garages and mechanic workshops use?

Thanks.

Light grey would look good %26amp; make area appear bigger but may be difficult to see silver coloured screws etc if they fall onto it.I have a friend who had her garage %26amp; workshop floor painted this colour by a professional %26amp; it certainly reflected the light very well.I think it was a product by International %26amp; from a range of their floor paints/coloursWhat colour floor paint should I use for my workshop floor?
In our old house, the previous owner had painted the workshop floor light grey. It's a pretty standard color for such areas.

However, Mr. Maryn, whose workshop it was, said it allowed silver screws, nuts, nails, etc. to 'disappear' more easily than a darker grey might have. We never did anything about it, but we would certainly have considered another color.

That said, we just replaced the tile in his present workshop, and he chose a light grey.
Gray is fairly common for shop floors, for many of the reasons you list. It also doesn't show a lot of dirt. Another common product is concrete stain. This requires little prep work in comparison to painting concrete.

A lot of pro shops use an epoxy type finish. This can be a good option, but again requires a lot of prep, and is pretty expensive.

Good luck with the project.
Your choice sounds ideal - I have beige which turned out to be the same shade as sawdust which brings its own problems. As there is very little choice, most installations like yours end up being grey (gray in US).
Most of the places you named use light gray. Also, that's easier to keep reasonably clean.

Good luck!
white would be the most convenient color, although it would get dirty the fastest.
light grey will be nice new screws you will be able to see but old dirty ones are harder too find
I reckon light grey would show every mark, I think mid green is more practical. seems popular in the UK.
You see a lot of grey on work shop floors; sounds like a good choice!
