Is there any such thing as floor paint for tiles?

I currently have cream tiles in my kitchen but I want dark grey or black tiles. I don't have the money to spend on new tiles so am wondering if there is any sort of paint that i could use that would be suitable to paint them with and then i will re-grout to make it look fresh. The ';tile paint'; in the shops says not to use on floors so is there a certain type that can be used on floors/TilesIs there any such thing as floor paint for tiles?
hannah you have 2 options for this

i would use a 2 component epoxy paint. the fumes are very strong though so you have to turn off any thing that might have a flame and do not turn anything on for atleast 1 a day. the fumes are very strong but they also dissipate quickly. you must wear a respirator mask while painting. benjamin moore has a very good epoxy paint. you will need to give your floor a very good cleaning with TSP and water. rinse then allow to dry. it covers very well so 2 coats will be enough. you can also paint it with an alkyd porch and floor enamel. first you would clean it, then apply a coat of alkyd primer undercoater then 1 - 2 coats of an alkyd porch and floor enamel. i have done this many time and it stands up to years of wear. one thing you will have to watch with either paint is that it will be slippery especially with water on it. you can usually get a lower sheen porch and floor enamel. if i had my choice though i would go with the epoxy. make sure all windows are left open to allow for the fumes to dissipate with either paint. Is there any such thing as floor paint for tiles?
Yes, but its not ideal. It was quite common in the 1950-60s for people to paint their kitchen floor tiles and front steps. However, the colour range has always been rather restricted and the paint needs to be redone once a year at least. Floor paint is designed for concrete or clay tiles and it will not bond directly onto glazed tiles without a key. For glazed tiles you need a tile primer, which I have seen available in DIY stores - without this the paint will fall off. Also, you will have to paint the grouting otherwise the paint will come off at the edges of the tiles. The key to a good finish is to thoroughly degrease the tiles first (first wash, then dry them and then rubdown with white spirit on a cloth - do small areas at a time and ventilate the room).
You can paint using floor paint - it is designed to go on concrete usually but will work on other surfaces if chemically clean. Don't expect it to last too long especially if you have to keep cleaning it but it should provide a cheap fix.

I'm not sure how successful the grouting idea will be unless you can remove all the grout before you start. Otherwise, I would think it easiest to paint it all.
Floor paint is available at all major DIY shops...it will work on tiles too...
they sell ceramic tile paint that is more epoxy than paint, but I dont know how it would hold up against floor traffic
there is no paint that will hold to floor tile .
