What is the best way to paint a garage floor?

Can you tell me the steps ?What is the best way to paint a garage floor?
Huba is right. However, the paint I would recommend is a two part epoxy paint that is especially formulated for garage floors. It comes in several colors. Get it at Lowes or Home Depot. What is the best way to paint a garage floor?
We painted our garage floor using Behr paint and followed the instructions on their website for proper preparation and application. We followed these detailed steps and it looks wonderful.

It is very important to start with a very clean surface and we cleaned and etched our concrete with muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid). I hear that concrete is alkaline by nature, which prevents proper adhesion of paint. Acid washing neutralizes this alkalinity and provides a paintable surface. The concrete becomes ';etched'; as it reacts to the strong acid. The powder residue (calcium carbonate) is rinsed off leaving a clean surface. However muriatic acid is very strong and you must use extreme caution. It can burn the skin on contact. It would be a good idea to have a source of water nearby to rinse off any accidental contact. Of course adequate ventilation is required since the vapors can be corrosive. We diluted the acid with 4 parts water in a plastic bucket. (Add the acid to the water to prevent a violent exothermic reaction.) We used a long handled scrub brush to apply the acid and then rinsed it all out with a water hose.

The salesperson we bought the acid from said that it would cause extreme damage to pipes and any soldering. We diluted it with extreme amounts of water before disposing.
After you have cleaned out the garage, clean the floor with TSP (trisodium phosphate) - an inexpensive compound that will help your paint adhere to the cement. Rinse. Let it dry completely. Start by brushing in the edges 2 to 3 inches wide with the paint color of your choice (avoid black, it shows everything). Then you can roller the rest very quickly. Leave the door(s) open for ventilation and don't drive on it for at least a day, two is better. Check out the paint in the store, they make types especially suited for painting cement.
paint from the further away to the garage door so dont walk over it and paint it black so doesnt show oil and muck good luck
