They don't make very many oil based paints anymore, it seems. One store only carries ';floor and porch'; enamel in oil. What happens if I use that to paint the bathroom walls and ceiling with? I know you're supposed to only use oil paint in bathrooms, but does it matter what kind you use? What happens if you use floor %26amp; porch oil base paint on the wall?
Oil based paints are the best for trim floor and window. They clean extremely well, and wear way better than latex does. The only thing about the floor and porch paint is it will be gloss paint, and you do not want that on your walls or your ceiling. Glossy paint will show every flaw going on your walls/ceiling. You can still purchase oil based paint in local hardware stores or specialized paint stores. Just look somewhere else..it could be listed under kitchen/bath paint (it can come in both latex and oil). Tell the person at the specialized store what you are looking for and they will direct you in finding what you want. You can still find it, and it is great in a high humidity area, or even in the kitchen.http://www.behr.com/dsm-ext/v/index.jsp?鈥?/a>What happens if you use floor %26amp; porch oil base paint on the wall?
You absolutely don't want to do this. No one uses oil based paints on inside walls even in bathrooms. Everything is latex and it's either matte or glossy. Glossy is used in bathrooms and kitchens and often laundry rooms because they are easy to clean. Mattes are used everywhere else inside the home. All are easy to paint over. Oils are for woods because that stain and saturation is necessary to maintain the woods. It is also not easily able to paint over without powerwashing. I don't know what you are thinking!
