How do I paint my basement floor ? Is it ok to pressure wash basement ?

Do NOT water seal it first!!! If you do, the basement floor paint you choose will not adhere properly!

The floor must be clean and dry. Rustoleum makes a Floor Paint Kit that I have used in my basement, and it's now been 5 years and it still looks great!!

The kit comes with a powdered cleaner (citric acid) that you mix with water and scrub the floor down with. This help get rid of dirt and oily type spots on the floor. Then you wash the floor with plain water and let dry completely.

Also in the kit is the floor paint which is a 2-part epoxy. You mix the 2 cans together and you are ready to paint the floor. The epoxy style paint makes for the best adheasion and nice hard finish that dosen't peel of or chip. And finally the kit comes with a bag of colored paint flecks that you can sprinkle on the floor when the paint is wet if you want that kind of look. This step is optional.

Home Depot or Lowes should carry this product.

Good Luck!!How do I paint my basement floor ? Is it ok to pressure wash basement ?
You can pressure wash it as long as there is a drain down there for the water.

Use a cement paint. Any other type would either wear off, or bubble up.How do I paint my basement floor ? Is it ok to pressure wash basement ?
the pressure washing is up to you as long as it will not damage the walls and there is a drain for the excess water. Do not paint the concrete floor until after you have etched it with an acid bath. If you do the paint will not adhere properly.
Thompson's Water Sealer first then use the same type of paint you would on a garage floor to paint it... and yes as long as it's not too much pressure you will be fine pressure washing your basement...Epoxy is the type of paint you will want to use...
