I would like some protection on the raw wood floors but is painting first the wisest thing to do? I will be using a sprayer on the walls and baseboards.Which should I do first: Paint walls or poly a wood floor? I'm worried about paint getting on the floors. ?
put a plastic sheet on the floor and start painting from the top down -- if you are using a sprayer there will be paint mist everywhere so make sure the floor is entirely covered. By doing the painting first you ensure that if an accident does occur and you get some paint on the floor you can sand it off without having to refinish the entire floorWhich should I do first: Paint walls or poly a wood floor? I'm worried about paint getting on the floors. ?
I think that you need to choose your furniture first, and then you can paint. If you are moving your furniture back into the same room then you should go ahead and paint first and then do the floor
ok, I would cover the entire floor with drop clothes, wall to wall, then paint the walls, then do the floor.
paint first for sure

In my room thereis a patch of exposed brick, i also have a harwood floor, what color should i paint the walls?
you should play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the ';painted'; rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:
http://sherlink.sherwin.com/swapp/color_鈥?/a>
I think I would stay away from browns %26amp; reds b/c you want the brick to be a feature, but I think a neutral taupey gray would look good, like ';fawn brindle'; (#7640). Check it out.In my room thereis a patch of exposed brick, i also have a harwood floor, what color should i paint the walls?
Depends on the shade of the bricks and the floor. I think a gray-blue or sage green would be nice.In my room thereis a patch of exposed brick, i also have a harwood floor, what color should i paint the walls?
Are you painting the brick? If you do, make sure you only paint with products specifically designed for masonry. Brick and other concrete products need to breath and you can damage them if you don't use the correct paint. The paint will specifically say it's for masonry.
Your not painting the brick right? Okay, how about a sage green? I think it would be very relaxing.
A cherry color
cream to bounce off the brick color and lighten the room up...

What is the best way to paint a concrete floor?
Floors are tricky. It is tempting to use regular paint, but don't. It won't adhere well and might be too slippery. I suggest you get something specifically for concrete. There are brands out there. Ask at Home Depot or Lowe's. Also, like with any painting project -- primer is key. You MUST prime. Sure, it seems like extra work, but it is better than watching whatever you do peel off of the floor.
Hope this helps.
NicoleWhat is the best way to paint a concrete floor?
There are various colors for concrete floors available these days other than just slate. I have used both a wide paint brush, and a roller. Personally, I prefer the roller, as it tends to blend better. Unless you are very good at it, I would *not* reccomend a power sprayer, as it comes out very fast, and might be too heavy on one side, and too light on the other, in which case you'd have to get the roller out to fix the mistake. Brushes leave brush marks, and unless you *want* that effect, rollers are just plain easier. What is the best way to paint a concrete floor?
The best type of paint to use is an epoxy based paint, it bonds extremely well, only downfall is that it has a very strong odour %26amp; if painting a basement, make sure you have good ventelation %26amp; open all windows %26amp; It is also very expensive ... But the results are well woth the cost!
i used a wide roller it was fast and easy my kids even helped, and as we went we blew sparkle dust on it . it turned out really nice. this was in a bar i owned. have fun.
I wouldn't recommend painting it. The paint will eventually peel. I'd recommend a concrete stain. It comes in a variety of colors and turns out really beautifully.
with concrete paint
Before painting any concrete, it is best to etch it with an acid for better adhesion.
I used dry lock etcher but i also believe Boric acid could be used too. Any Home Depot or Menards store could help with that.
After applying it, you leave it on for a half hour or so and then mop it up with water and let dry it completely.
Be carefull, this is acid, wear gloves and safety glasses.
Epoxy is best, but after mixing the two parts together, you have a short time to use it, so be ready to work.
My choice was the rust-oleum epoxy, they have epoxy for basements and Garages and an industrial strength epoxy.
The basement epoxy was not too fumey, but for my garage i used the industrial strength which its fumes almost knocked me out.
They also have paint chips that can be applied to the wet suface to keep you from slipping, but use sparingly, as they dont give you all that much. (Trust me on that one).
if this is a garage floor, be aware that while ordinary concrete is porous, any oil or water dropped onto painted concrete will be slippery and need to be mopped up.
Hope this helps.

What is the best way to paint an exterior patio floor that has already been sealed and painted befor?
You should sand the patio floor first, this is important for adhering new paint. Then you can buy primer and paint that is made for just that purpose. You didnt say if it was wood or stone. If its wood they sell stains that are colored just for decks and if its stone or concrete they also sell stains %26amp; paint for that. If you use regular paint make sure its an exterior paint. I do alot of renovating on my own and I have learned thru trial %26amp; error. But make sure you sand important. What is the best way to paint an exterior patio floor that has already been sealed and painted befor?
Scrape or sand it to get any loose paint off. then I would paint it with a primer and then put down the finish coat. What is the best way to paint an exterior patio floor that has already been sealed and painted befor?
unless u know exactly which paint was used before, nothing will probably stick to it in the long run. Just stay with the antique or stressed look u have now.

Do I need to remove paint from concrete before installing hardwood floor?
I am trying to install hardwood floors, but the person who gave me a quote for the job said I should remove some of the paint that apparently laned on the concrete when the house was being painted. Its not a very thick layer of paint, but it can be seen that some landed when they were spray-painting the entire house.....Do I really need to get rid of it?......If that paint becomes loose eventually, will it really affect the hardwood floor?Do I need to remove paint from concrete before installing hardwood floor?
Hardwood floors can lay straight onto the floor, leaving expansion gaps near the ends where they meet the walls, or you can lay them onto a piece of insulation material. Either case, you do not need to remove the paint from the concrete.Do I need to remove paint from concrete before installing hardwood floor?
no, it shouldn't be a problem, my floors are installed with a layer of 'felt' right over the old linoleum (Well, they are not actual hardwood, but they LOOK like it)
no
If you aren't sure about what you are doing then I advise that you do your homework before doing this job. I haven't ever put down a hardwood floor myself, and I am not questioning your ability to do the job either. One thing that stands out to me is that whatever type of floor that you might put down would need sub flooring of some kind over the concrete. Especially if you are putting a hardwood (or any type of wood) floor you would need a sub floor to nail into as you can't glue a wood floor successfully (???). The paint on the concrete floor will have no bearing one way or the other. Good luck and I hope the floor comes out great!!!
Obsolutely not. Sounds like he's trying to make a few extra bucks on you.
No. And I'd get my flooring from someone else. If this guys willing to tell you this preposterous lie, what else might he be willing to lie about?

How do you paint and distress a wooden floor?
i have sanded it down today... do i just put emulsion( white) on it and sand it again or do i water the paint down with something...then sand it...help required..the missus wants it done!!!How do you paint and distress a wooden floor?
the easiest way is to do a white wash. Use a high quality exterior water based paint. Thin it with water about 50%. 2 quarts of paint to 1 quart of water. paint on in direction of grain and wipe off with a clean damp rag before it dries. Experiment a little bit on a piece of wood you have lying around. How do you paint and distress a wooden floor?
wow! what a job and the best of luck there mate!
Yep, just emulsion the floor then get your wife to shout at it for a few days. That should really distress it!
try using PATINA its the same effect you see on distressed kitchen cupboards
Being a painter(where the job has to be a perfect finish with an even coat) this is hard for me to figure, but paint the floor, let it dry and then sand the high edges is my guess.
Distressing is kind of an excuse for not doing a good paint job to begin with(the way I see it)
the best way to do the job you want, is to emulsion the floor with the colour of your choice. do small areas at a time and then wipe the paint off. you will find that it wil rub off in different thicknesses and leave the grain of the wood showing through and some of the paint on the floor. when this is dry the best thing to do is varnish your floor to seal the paint in and leave a finish thats easy to clean. plus continous foot traffic over emulsion only will wear the paint excesively. hope this helps
if you want it distressed beat us up with the back of a hammer, chain, screw drivers. It just depends on how much you want it distressed. paint it, then sand it again in different sections.
what i normally do is apply a light colour first then followed by a darker colour (your choice)then when dry rub the whole floor with wire wool to distress it then acrylic varnish on topkids hair

Is it possible to paint the grout on a ceramic tile floor?
If so, how to do this, what kind of paint to use, etc.Is it possible to paint the grout on a ceramic tile floor?
sure you can, but it's more of a dye then paint. check with your home center (home depot, lowes etc).
good luckIs it possible to paint the grout on a ceramic tile floor?
Yes it is possible. You would have to clean it first. A cement stain would be your best option because regular paint will likely peel. Once you have done that, you would have to seal it with a grout sealer.
Got to your local mega-sized home center, they will be able to offer you several options in grout paints or dyes, or colored grouts.

Getting Paint off Lenolium Floor?
Does anyone know how to get paint off a lenolim floor? There are paint blots and paint marks all over the floor. Thanks!Getting Paint off Lenolium Floor?
acetone!Getting Paint off Lenolium Floor?
Can you scrape it off? )O(
Buys a product called OOPS! drop a little o nthe spot soak for a minute and wipe away. Won't hurt anything but the paint drip. Later dudette.
you may use paint thinner. u buy this from hardware stores or paint supplies stores. get dry clothe, wet it with the paint thinner and rub it to your paint stains. that will remove the stains.
Get some ';Goo Gone'; or ';Goof Off'; works like charm. Doesn't smell real good, but it works real good. At Home Depot/Lowe's
It depends how long the paint has been on there and what kind of paint it is.
If it is water based (acrylic or latex) try using hot soapy water.
With oil based paint you may be able to scrape it off without damaging the floor. I would try it with my fingernail first or use a bread knife.
Another thing to try would be paint thinner but I am not sure if it will damage the floor or not so try it on a small spot first.
I have used Billy T's method (above) before and had very good success with it.
wd40 works a treat. put it on the paint blots, leave for a minute then really gently scrape off. make sure you remove all traces of the wd40 off the floor though otherwise it will be very slippy.
Goof off works real well for removing paint, also try nail polish remover.
I moved into a house that had paint on the floor, and I used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, worked like a charm!
After the paint dries then you will be able to peel it off or scrape it up with something like your fingernail.Paint thinners and other chemicals will leave a dull finish on your floor

Can I paint or stain my chipboard kitchen floor?
I though I'd try to stain it and then finish it with water-based floor polyurethane. Will this give it enough protection for a heavy-use area? Also, do I need to sand the chipboard? And if I try to stain it in sections (ie: making 'diamond' shapes to resemble tiles) will the stain seep under the painter's tape and mess up the next 'tile'? Many thanks for your answers! Can I paint or stain my chipboard kitchen floor?
Chipboard will stain, but i'm not so sure you'll be able to ';diamond pattern'; it, as chipboard will soak up stain and ';bleed'; into the next diamond shape. Why not buy some vinyl flooring and cover it instead, saving a lot of hard work and will probably cost the same amount. You can buy off-cuts of vinyl flooring from carpet shops and even DIY stores.
Hope this helps and have a good day ;-)

Anyone know a good paint for a garage floor?
i am looking to paint my garage floor it is rarely going to be used to park a car anyone have a not so expensive idea on how and what to use?Anyone know a good paint for a garage floor?
Both Home Depot and Lowe's have a really good selection of garage floor paints in several different price points. You may want to seal your garage floor before you do anything else. When I was shopping for this I did notice that most of the colors available were in various shades of gray.Anyone know a good paint for a garage floor?
go to home depot and ask for the 2 part epoxy it will last longer and and hold up better to high traffic and is not slick when wet
Yes, I use Behr Masonry paint from home depot. It lasts for about 2-3 years. Try to do 2 coats. You can also have colors mixed in, but grey looks good.
Use a two part epoxy from a paint store. Do not use any water based or acrylic epoxies or paint, because the heat from your tires will peel the paint. Before painting, you will have to acid etch the concrete with muriatic acid. Pour half gallon acid in 5 gallon bucket and fill with approx. 3 gallons water. Next, pour out on concrete and scrub with push broom. do the whole garage and rinse when finished. Wait until completely dry before painting. Wear gloves when handling acid, it will burn or irritate your skin if contacted. Good luck.
If not going to have standing water, any epoxy will do.
You want to use a floor paint, go to your local hardware store and inquire
USE AN OIL BASED-IT'LL TAKE SOME TIME TO DRY AND HAVE REALLY GOOD VENALATION, YOU MIGHT GET FIXATED,YES YOU MAY WANT TO POWERWASH IT, LET IT DRY. THEN PRIMER OIL BASED ALSO. THEN PAINT.
Use epoxy paint, and make sure your floor is spotless before applying.
Use Rust-o-leum's 2-part garage paint epoxy available in the paint dept at your local hardware store. Easy to use and gives that professional look. BTW I don't work for rustoleum, but for HD.
I prefer using Pratt and Lambert Oil Base Porch and Deck Enamel. It is a very good product.
they do carry a porch and floor paint and just sweep down the garage floor and if oil stains clean well let dry and get rolling maybe one coat will cover it looks good after you do it
check out the jcwitney web site....
use an oil-based paint
Get a standard primmer (Walmart $14/gal) and a standard EXTERIOR paint in whatever color you choose (also about $14/gallon).
The kits from Home Depot or Lowe's are good; however, before you do anything, you want to tape a piece of plastic (like a trash bag) to the floor for a couple of days. When you remove it, if the floor under it, or the underside of the bag has moisture on it, you're gonna be out of luck.
Paint won't stick to it.
We have used water-based (latex) concrete floor paints for years in our machine shop, and they work incredibly well, indoors or out. These are not like latex wall or house paints. They are thin, the finish is thin- and really tough.
We use one by Valspar paints now, but have tried several and all worked well. About $20, very good coverage. Available at Lowes, among others.
If you have oil on the floor, be sure and do careful prep.
Menard's sell garage floor covering kits with clear instructions. It will make you proud.
Buy the ';best'; floor paint you can afford and follow the instructions to the letter. Clean, clean clean. Painting is PREP
If it says primer - prime. May sound costly, but if it lasts 20years big deal, it was worth it.
Go to the paint store, not HD or Lowe's, they people there don't know jack.
At a paint store, they will tell you how to wash the surface with a mild-acid solution, and give you the proper paint for this situation.
Now there are Acid stains for concrete. Paint will flake because it cannot breathe the moisture through.

How much is too much paint spill prior to dustless hardwood floor sanding and refinishing?
Going to be getting my hardwood floors sanded and refinished next week. We have painted all the walls and moldings for the rooms being refinished. We heard that paint spill was ok prior to floor sanding and refinishing but now that I look at the floors, we may have gone a little overboard with the spilling and dripping. Is there such a thing as too much spillage. We are getting dustless refinishing and don't want to incur any extra problems or costs. How much is too much paint spill prior to dustless hardwood floor sanding and refinishing?
It pays to be neat in everything you do. in this case, you'll pay extra to the refinishers. How much is too much paint spill prior to dustless hardwood floor sanding and refinishing?
If the paint is on top of the old finish, no problem. It'll come off with the old finish.
unless you dropped the whole gallon you should be ok
It pays to be neat in everything you do. in this case, you'll pay extra to the refinishers. How much is too much paint spill prior to dustless hardwood floor sanding and refinishing?

How can i remove dried paint from laminate floor?
recently decorated my room and paint must have dripped on the floor, ant tips on removing it? its laminateHow can i remove dried paint from laminate floor?
I got paint off of my laminate floor with fingernail polish remover. The flooring that I installed came with a little flyer that actually recommended it. It didn't damage the floor at all, but I definately wouldn't let it sit on there very long. I just dipped a corner of a towel in the finger nail polish remover (acetone) and rubbed the paint off.How can i remove dried paint from laminate floor?
i did the same thing. im guessing its dry so just gently scrape it off, if you find the paint spills when they are wet just wipe them up quickly.
Use a putty knife and just push the paint off the surface. Use mineral spirits to remove the rest.
a small scraper and a delicate touch and the paint should come up . the sooner the better
scrape off the paint then wet the area and gently rub wif a smooth sanding pad not sandpaper

What colour to paint Shaker Kitchen? Have oak floor and black granite worktops. Help with wall colour too!?
I'm at my wits end, and so too is my husband! Not sure what colour to do Shaker units. I'm thinking, because its such a 'classic choice of look/materials that there must some sort of 'best/definitive' colour to use. I tried a colour called Ecru by Fired Earth but it was too cold then I tried and peachy tone which was too overbearing with the oak. I have found a nice colour by Wickes called Barley which is a beige with a green undertone but not sure of whether its better on the units or the walls. Does it look odd to have the whole kitchen painted in the same colour; walls and units? Other colours in the area: dark brown/natural cream linen. is there a shade of cream that isn't too yellow/peach/pink? Preferably I'd like to buy an off the shelf colour in water based eggshell for the cupboards. ThanksWhat colour to paint Shaker Kitchen? Have oak floor and black granite worktops. Help with wall colour too!?
I am having the same dilemma as we speak!
I have used the 'Champagne' Satin Cupboard Makeover paint for the cupboards which looks good as it's a clean cream with not too much yellow in it.
Regarding the walls, we've tried loads of rustic looking greens from Fire Earth, Farrow and Ball, Dulex, Laura Ashely and others, and by far the best tone match was Vert de Terre by F%26amp;B. However, still not sure if it's the right match so doing the whole lot in cream - walls and cabinets as my theory is we can always change it later!
Good luck! What colour to paint Shaker Kitchen? Have oak floor and black granite worktops. Help with wall colour too!?

I think you will find that most Shaker wood cabinets were not painted but oiled or varnished.
By Shaker Kitchen, you probably mean decorated in the style of the Shaker Society.
The Shakers were a very religious group. Most of their painted work, and walls of their homes were light blue. They called it Heavenly Blue.

Can I paint varnish on a wood floor without sanding it first?
I have wood floors and the finish has worn off. I want to paint finish on, but don't want to sand the floors. can I just paint the finish on?Can I paint varnish on a wood floor without sanding it first?
you'll have to sand them. not only will the floor look spotted with light and dark spots where the finish is worn off, but if they've had a wax or some other kind of polish on the the finish won't stick it will peel off. either sand them or ';god forbid'; cover them. Can I paint varnish on a wood floor without sanding it first?
if you do, the finish will fail, preparation is key to doing any job correctly.
sure u can if u want the floors not to look nice. U will have old varnish mixed w/ new varnish %26amp; depending on what they used on it to begin with, it may clash.
I really would do it correct which would mean sanding it. U can rent floor sanders at hardware stores then u jst purchase the coarse to med to light sand paper then vacuum up all the sand dust... then wipe the floor to make sure u got it all then use a roller w/ a long handle for rollng on the varnish.
I believe they make acrylic polyerthaine which water based which would dry faster. If u do 1/2 of the room then do the other 1/2.. I'm sure w/ the heat... the lst 1/2 will b dry enuff to put anthr coat of varnish on %26amp; so on. Let it dry/cure for at least 48hrs to 72hrs depending on what the can states b/4 putting furniture %26amp; walking on it w/ shoes. U'll b the envy of all u'r friends... mayb they will hire U... ;-)
you don't have a choice, you have to sand it first. you may be wasting your time, money and effort if you don't follow my advice
If you sand the floors they will look smoother and glossier when you finish them. I suggest sanding them- you can get pretty cheap electric sanders at the hardware store that will make the job go much faster!
sure you can it just might not come out looking nice and smooth and you may end up re-doing it over again.

What can I paint on a plywood looking floor to get rid of cat urine smell?
I had a cat that had a severe bladder infection, she continued to pee on the same spot even after we ripped up the carpet. I had to put her to sleep and now my husband and I want to put pergo down but we are worried about that smell. I thought I read somewhere you could paint, not sure what kind, over it to get rid of it. What colour wall paint goes with grey floor tiles?
I'm not interested in pink. The room doesn't have much natural light. Any suggestions? What colour wall paint goes with grey floor tiles?
How about a nice creamy biege or even yellow if you want to brighten it up, but not bright yellow something pastel colour - but if it was me i'd go for cream! What colour wall paint goes with grey floor tiles?
Any color goes with gray. A nice blue would look good.
hmmm.. u forgot to mentioned if it is light or dark grey ..
light grey --%26gt; strong dark red color/ rich red color, not light red.
dark grey --%26gt; try light shade of pale yellow or even blue.
light has to go with dark
dark has to go with light
anything goes with grey...if you dont get natural light avoid grey, navy, black or anything too dark..also id avoid yellow. blue would work, so would green and whie (but i find white too plain)...you could also try beiges and browns and oranges or reds....
Q: foyer, kitchen or bathroom?
Foyer could be burgundy to magenta
Kitchen could be mint green or sage
Bathroom could be soft yellow
It really depends on the shade of grey
ruth
orange would go nice with grey

How do you get paint off tile floor?
my landlord said it was ok for us to paint the walls in our apt but not to get it on the floors well me being me i got some paint on the tile floor so how can i remove paint off the tile floorHow do you get paint off tile floor?
Being a landlord, I'd freak out if you used paint thinner or turpentine and it damaged the tile. Then you have a bigger problem. Why not try Goof Off or Mostenbocker's Latex Paint Remover, both are under $5.00 can be found at most home improvement and discount stores and neither will cause more problems than you already have. How do you get paint off tile floor?
Paint thinner
gently scrape it if that is possible. Or else use paint thinner to wipe it off.
Get on your hands and knees and scrub.
go to home depot its called grout and tile cleaner its in a yellow-orange bottle it will clean paint off tile and even remove the hard caked on grout that dried on there this stuff is worth the money its great its under 20 dollars for i gallon and it takes alittle small amount you will be amazed at how fast it works
Mr. Clean Eraser

Check with your local tile showrooms. They may have closeouts on stock items or discontinued tiles that would be economical for you and enough to cover the floor space that you need.
Also check your local thrift stores or Habitat ReStores. They sometimes are given tile closeouts and they resell them for less than the original price.I want to get my bedroom furnished. need help with paint and floor tiles?
In my home I installed ceramic tile. As for paint, I like a light color in a satin sheen with gloss white baseboards. The ceiling should be flat white. Generally, lighter colored walls open up the room and darker/flatter colors make the room appear smaller. Use some mirrors to really open the room up!kids hair

How do I preparer a living room floor to paint its concrete. I have removed the carpet and pad?
Just make sure it's dust free and you've removed all glue and pad. DON';T PAINT!!!! you want to put a couple coats of concrete stain, go to home depot and bher carries an excellent concrete stain, it's water based and should be all right for your interior. good luck. We don't have any concrete living room floors here in New England, I use this around pools and sidewalks for my clients, been using for 10 yrs with very good results. good luckHow do I preparer a living room floor to paint its concrete. First of all all the residue from the carpet...( Glue ) needs to be removed...then cleaned ...then depending on the type of paint not much more....the paint can will have recommended prep for the floor....Use a paint that is for concrete floors.... If you use an acid base cleaner or Muriadic acid make sure you nuteralize it with vinager...or the acid will keep eating away at the floor...

What's the best way to get spray paint to stick to a floor on a aluminum boat?
I've tryed lightly sanding the floor so the paint has a little more texture to stick to and it still wont stay after about 2 months? can anyone help me please? What's the best way to get spray paint to stick to a floor on a aluminum boat?
Have you thought about putting bedliner material on your floor. It is non skid, tough and looks good.Spray-on or roll-on works equally well. What's the best way to get spray paint to stick to a floor on a aluminum boat?
The best way is to clean the floor with an acid like hydrofluoric, I have had good results with phosphoric and citric as well - use full safety gear particularly goggles and rinse off very well. Allow to fully dry and fully but lightly coat with an etch primer - you should be able to see through it. I use two pack epoxies - but painting is one of my trades. You can get chemically induced asthma and dermatitis from exposure to epoxies and iso cyanates - don't allow to get on your skin! I use sugar in the top coat as a grip maker. Just hose off the sugar after the last layer cures and you have an excellent soft grip - the finer the sugar the finer the grip. Lesser coatings like enamel and so on just are not tough enough to survive for long. On no account put any coverings on the floor that can allow water to lay underneath them - your deck will dissolve in interestingly expensive ways.
The surfaces that are walked on are the only ones that I like to paint, alloy has a self protecting oxidising layer that quickly forms naturally and is very stable and self healing. Coatings can allow extensive corrosion to occur before any external signs are visible. But that's the opinion of a commercial fisherman where practicality is far more valuable than some fashion statement.
They have an acid base primer wash for aluminum boats to prep for painting. If it was a clean and previously 'unpainted' boat; you could spray it down with plain vinegar. It will clean and slightly etch enough to sustain a decent paint job. I have done this a number of times with good success. Also, epoxy paints are more adaptable to sticking on clean aluminum than an oil base or alkyd paint. Don't paint epoxy over old existing paint though. One response that I noticed is a good one. It stated to use truck bed liner paint. I too have seen this and it did look good. I have no experience with doing this in a boat though. It sounds like it would work well.
forget the paint and use marine carpet. safer and quiter.
You need to prepare the surface with an etching coat. Even then it can still chip, but it will last reasonably well.

What paint colors, lighting & (stamped concrete) floor colors would you chose for a Mattress Store?
My husband and I are opening a Mattress Store and he is leaving the design up to me. I'm not sure what Colors to chose for the walls and floors. I know lighting make a huge difference. I really want to create a good atmosphere. Any suggestions on what to use?

You can literally spend hours:

bright colors like lime green give a startling, nearly dizzing shock to the eyes, whereas beige white, and other soft colors induce feelings of comfort, simalar to a comfy bed. so soft, neutral colors are good.Perhaps you could find a cheap but fluffy carpet to match, but if it's not possible red, green, or brown are good colors. Want to paint my sunroom floor its cement. What kind of paint should I buy and I want to use those flakes also?
The sunroom has a cement floor I want to paint it with cement paint and place those nice decorative colored flakes on it once its done. Can you tell me what kind of paint to buy and where to buy it thanks so muchWant to paint my sunroom floor its cement. What kind of paint should I buy and I want to use those flakes also?
That's what I did to my kitchen floor!. I bought a 1 part epoxy paint and had them tint it to the color I wanted. Make sure the concrete isn't sealed by pouring water on it. If it's qicky absorbed then it hasn't been sealed. If it's sealed you will have to acid etch it by using muriatic acid. Make sure all windows and outside doors are open for ventilation. Rinse with vinegar and baking soda to neutralize. Prime with a concrete bonding primer:

After concrete is clean, etched and dry apply the concrete bonding primer. I used a small sponge roller and brush for edges. Let dry 8 hours. Buy a small sponge roller kit and a couple of extra sponge rollers. Apply first coat of epoxy paint using small sponge roller.Place tray, roller and brush in zip-lock bag in the fridge. Let dry 24 hours. Apply second coat going the opposite direction. Let dry 24 hours. Last coat use a large 3/8'; nap roller and apply in 3' x 6' sections and sprinkle flakes on the wet paint. Continue this process until the floor is completely painted. It's okay to paint over some of the flakes. It won't make a difference. Let the epoxy paint cure for 72 hours and you are ready to seal it. I use the ZEP floor sealer(step 2)and ZEP high traffic floor finish(step 3)I apply 3 coats of each with 30 minutes between coats using a grout sponge. Put the sponge in a plastic bag between coats to keep it from drying out.

My garage floor is painted and stained and my kitchen floor is done with the flakes.Want to paint my sunroom floor its cement. What kind of paint should I buy and I want to use those flakes also?
I'm thinking you want a floor similar to those in retail stores. That's not paint, it's a multiple part/task process that's done with specialty products and contractors that are not readily available to the public.
Home Depot offers 2 coatings that's similar that I've seen in the stores which incorporates the diamond dust and glitter you describe. Last I saw them they were in the paint department; (1) is by Behr which ran about $30 for the paint , glitter was $14, and $20 for the clear coat in either ';wet look'; or ';Low-luster';. (2) is by Rustoleum and the two stage epoxy box kit ran about $70 which inluded the glitter. In my actual experience of knowing paints and coatings I can tell you that the Rustoleum epoxy base would be by far a tougher more durable finish than Behr's.

Use a plastic (only!!) spatula, and gently scrape off the paint. I hope it was latex, that is easiest to remove.

What is the best type of paint to use to paint a screened in cement porch floor?
My porch floor is already painted a dull gray. Are there other colors of cement porch paint out there to liven things up? Do I need to do any special type of cleaning before painting the concrete floor? Thanks in advance for all your help! What is the best type of paint to use to paint a screened in cement porch floor?
I have to go with epoxy paints for garages. They are not cheap but will last forever. You have to get yourself set up before you start because you can not wait after you start. I knew a guy who stopped in the middle and had a heck of a time removing it. It was in a pile in the middle of his garage. Most people have it done for them. What is the best type of paint to use to paint a screened in cement porch floor?
Mix 3 parts water to 1 part paint, laytex paint. Use a large sponge or a old broom, and apply sparringly. Let it dry before applying again if you want it darker. Doing it this way will let you chage the color gradually, till you like it and won't lift the gray paint already on the floor. Sort of like a dry rub. Good Luck Don't use any product with a petrouleum base to clean it with, like lysol, or pine sol. Try using some amonia and vineger, to strip it a little, rinse it good too. Don't ever let the new paint puddle or repaint again without the new paint being absolutly dry.
Pittsburgh %26amp; Glidon both make a very good concrete paint. They also make a rubber paint you can get a Home Depot it's a roofing paint but it will adhere to concrete.I did a garage floor with it and it lasted about 10 years.
Oh there are lots of colors to choose from. Hop on down to the paint store and go wild! Why not huh?
And you most likely will just have to clean the floor. But ask the paint store. Enjoy your new floor

I got the cupboard makeover paint from Homebase.

What a great project! Here are a couple of resources that might be helpful:

Shaker Shoppe: http://www.shakershoppe.com/TSScolor.htm鈥?/a>
I think you will find that most Shaker wood cabinets were not painted but oiled or varnished.
By Shaker Kitchen, you probably mean decorated in the style of the Shaker Society.
The Shakers were a very religious group. Most of their painted work, and walls of their homes were light blue. They called it Heavenly Blue.
I hope this is what you're looking for.

I suggest sanding them- you can get pretty cheap electric sanders at the hardware store that will make the job go much faster!
sure you can it just might not come out looking nice and smooth and you may end up re-doing it over again.kids hair

What's the best way to get glue off concrete floor from indoor/outdoor carpet then paint it to look like tile?
We have taken out the carpet to find yellowish orange glue. It makes the surface of the concrete rough. The floor seeps when the air conditioner is off. We live on the central west coast of Florida. I have 2 large dogs, and 2 teenage boys. It's impossible to keep carpet clean, so I have choosen to paint the concrete to look like tile to match the rest of the house. We are having difficulty getting the glue up. We are beginners at home improvement and our budget is limited. We are using a adhesive remover but it doesn't seem to be working, the floor is still orange. Is this stained from the glue? How do we get the surface of the floor smooth? What's the best way to get glue off concrete floor from indoor/outdoor carpet then paint it to look like tile?
Just be carefull with adhesive removers. Most will prevent paint from sticking to the concrete. The only way to get the glue up and still have the paint stick to the concrete is by scraping. Making your floor look like tile is very hard. It only looks easy on tv. Do you know there are carpets that can be cleaned with bleach. If you need more info post a replyWhat's the best way to get glue off concrete floor from indoor/outdoor carpet then paint it to look like tile?
You didn't say how much surface area you were talking about, but it sounds like it could be rather large. I have removed carpet and linoleum from concrete flooring both. To remove the glue I've used a combination of mechanical scraping....usually a paint trowel. And a degreasing solvent. The one I have found most effective is called trichloroethylene. This is the ingredient in gun cleaning solvent and dry cleaning solution. It smells bad and you will need to have good ventilation when using it. But I've found it to be very good at getting glue off of surfaces. The other good thing about it, is that it is not flammable like many organic solvents
One other thing to consider as you paint the concrete. How much traffic will you have on the floor? I painted my garage floor, to make it easier to keep clean. I used an ';epoxy'; paint as opposed to a standard enamel paint. This paint holds up very well and will last for years. It is more expensive, and it has a ';pot life'; when the can is opened. You can test it in small areas to determine how long you can work with it.
Even if your concrete floor is smooth, you may have difficulty removing the glue. Now that you've removed the carpeting, the glue will get a chance to be dryer than it has been. However, you do live in a humid part of the country. You might buy a dehumidifier. You'd need one anyway to be comfortable below grade in coastal Florida. The dryer it is the easier it is to remove. I have some more tips in the link.
If your concrete is rough surfaced, you may not be able to get it prepared for paint, in which case you might find some indoor-outdoor carpeting on sale.
As far as making it appear as tile through painting is concerned, iI think the only way to do that is to (1) place string in a grid pattern where the artificial grouting will be. (2) Paint thin lines to simulate the grouting. You don't have to be too precise because you'll be painting over it. Make your ';grout'; a light color, so that when you do No. 5, you don't have to worry about it showing through. (3) Let it dry. (4) Place tape on top of the grouting in the thickness you want it to be. (5) Using a roller carefully, paint the floor and over the tape. You might need two or more coats. (6) Remove the tape.
what about renting a drum sander like they use to sand hardwood floors?? could get the majority of it up that way

I have a concrete floor should i paint and then sealed or otherwise?
is a very old floor looks like crapI have a concrete floor should i paint and then sealed or otherwise?
First paint and then seal.
To start, be sure your floor is completely clean of all debris, so sweep and/or vacuum it well. If necessary clean off any grease and contaminants with the appropriate cleaning solutions. In order to get the paint to adhere correctly to the concrete you need to roughen it up a bit, this is called etching. Then you can apply your concrete paint. When the painting process is finished and it's dry, you can apply your concrete sealer to keep it looking fresh and enhance the longevity and durability.
For other information on flooring you can check my source site.I have a concrete floor should i paint and then sealed or otherwise?
I painted the concrete floor in my kitchen showroom 3 years ago; it was the best thing I have done in a long time. The floor looks great, takes alot of abuse, and is zero maintenance. I scraped it clean, rolled on a base coat, then rag rolled 4 other accenting colors, and then 2 clear coats. Here is a link to a photo: http://www.glasscreek.com/ (bottom photo).
They make specific paint kits for concrete floors. Go to your local hardware store and see what they have available. There are many colors and patterns available. My concrete floor is mauve with speckles.

i have been using a scratch pad..that works but its taking forever.I painted a room and i wanna know how do i get latex paint off the hard wood floor ? ive been using a scatch?
Call your local paint store (I'm not talking Lowe's or Home Depot...I mean a REAL paint store) and ask them for suggestions.
If the paint has only been there for a day or so, you should be able to put a wet cloth over it, let it soak for a few minutes, and then whisk it away with a plastic scratch pad. If the paint has cured and it's been too long, the only other option may be to scratch it off with a razor blade and then restain and varnish those places on your hardwood floor.
But do check with the professionals first! And next time use a drop cloth! :-)I painted a room and i wanna know how do i get latex paint off the hard wood floor ? ive been using a scatch?
I've seen contractors use big floor sanders to remove old finishes. I guess it would work on paint. They look like a floor buffing machine. You can rent one at a tool rental center which there are a lot of.

For really tough spots, you could use Goof Off. It removes paint, glue, etc...
You're doing fine. There is no magic cure for this. But I bet you use a drop cloth next time. :-)
Call your local paint store (I'm not talking Lowe's or Home Depot...I mean a REAL paint store) and ask them for suggestions.

Epoxy paint for a showerstall floor?
I am considering using an epoxy paint to recoat a showerstall floor. I would appreciate any feedback on best practices or good brands of epoxy paint to purchase.
If you have done this, how well has it worked out longterm?Epoxy paint for a showerstall floor?
I would highly recomend a water based epoxy that is water tolerent. You actually might want to check out your local marina for a water based deck paint for boats. Fiberglass boats and shower bases are usually a very similar material. WARNING - it will be expensive.Epoxy paint for a showerstall floor?
You gotta look for the correct paint then....to go on plastic....so it needs some flexibility otherwise it will just flake off. The best brand is the most expensive stuff as here is the case';you get what you paid for'; holds true.

Removing interior high gloss paint from the garage floor?
A Quart size can of high gloss paint tipped over in my garage. Is there away I can clean it up from the cement floor?Removing interior high gloss paint from the garage floor?
Is it on the ground? If so is the ground stained?Removing interior high gloss paint from the garage floor?
The methods you have been given will work -sorta. The problem is that the removal process itself will leave a mark of some kind. I'm assuming that the concrete floor is unpainted.
Try this:
Look at the paint can to see if its water-based. If the clean up instructions say to use soap and water to clean up; its water based. If they say to use a chemical thinner, then it is oil based.
First, use mechanical methods (scraping, mainly) to get off the thick crud whether it be water or oil based.
If the spill is a latex or other water-based coating, then come back over it with ';Goof-Off'; or similar aggressive solvents, which often say, right on the can, ';cleans up latex paint spills'; or something similar.
If you're fighting an oil base, you can start out using gasoline, which may work fine. PURE gasoline -not the stuff that has oil mixed into it. The worse that can happen (assuming you're not smoking at the time) is nothing.
No good? OK, try this trick, after scraping. Spray the affected area with clear gloss laquer. Sounds all wrong, I know. But what the laquer will do (when this works) is to suck up the paint from the pores in the concrete and trap it on the top -a lot of it, anyway. Now come back with sandpaper and/or steel wool to remove the dried laquer. The laquer dries FAST, so in 10 minutes you'll know if this approach was effective. If it was effective, you can do 2 or 3 more treatments.
Otherwise, or additionally, come back with toulene or MEK or similar solvent -a consult at the paint department will guide you. Apply it, then cover the area with paper towels and put some weight on them -just enough to assure good contact and let the towels suck up the solvent and paint. Let that sit there for a day and then pull everything away. Repeat if you like.
After you fuss with this for awhile, no matgter what you do, you'll see the paint has been removed for the most part, but you'll also see a halo where the paint, and then the solvent, were applied. What's happening here is 1) the paint and solvents were sucked into the pores of the concrete and have reacted chemically with the concrete. You can't reverse that; and 2) the concrete at the spill site is now ';too clean'; compared to the area around it. You can't reverse that, either. But, you can continue cleaning around the site -maybe the entire floor. Don't make a big deal out of this -just use TSP or something similar and give the place a good cleaning.
Your other ally is TIME. In time, the spill site will become less evident and a blending with surrounding areas will take place. It will never go away -but it won't stick out like a sore thumb, either.
It is important to understand that any scrubbing or application of force is likely to make both spilled material and the solvents penetrate even deeper into the concrete -so ';gentle'; is good.
The heat gun approach may be helpful as part of the scraping process. Just make sure you heat it enough to soften it. Don't let it burn or become so fluid that it goes deeper.
I hope this helps.

hi
paint the floor
I have just varnished a newly sanded wooden floor, but I now want to paint over it?
Can I use a really good primer first then apply the final finish coat? Which will be an off white.
Should I just lightly scour the varnished finish so that the primer will bond into it better?I have just varnished a newly sanded wooden floor, but I now want to paint over it?

You need to talk to the company you purchased the varnish from because a lot of paints are not compatible. Or talk to a company that you want to buy an One Part Epoxy Clear Coat with UV protection and have the can of varnish in hand so you can read the ingredients to make sure they are compatible.
Good Luck.
Give the 10 to Eskie :). I have to ask however; with no offense meant at all...';WHY PAINT';? And what type/base; and why White in any flavor; and will you clear coat that?
Steven Wolf
Sand it lightly first
I'm afraid not. Varnish creates a slick non-pourous surface which will need to be removed for the primer and paint to stick and give you the durability and performance required for flooring. You will have to sand it off, use a good stain blocking primer, allow it to cure, then apply your latex and then re-seal it with a UVB/UVA protecting, non-yellowing polyurethane.
just lightly sand the varnish with a medium sand paper ,then vacuum the dust up thoroughly.
I think the answer you seek might have something to do with the 'type / quality' of the product, and you'd best be asking the manufactures of these products.
Question: Did you Varnish the boards deliberately BEFORE applying the paint .....by that I mean 'knowing that you were intending doing so'?
I'd assume not, but....! (maybe you know something I don't!!)
Sash.
well, in all fairness, like DIY Doc said: Why Paint it?
now to answer your question.
Is it really Varnish? or is it polyurethane?
';Poly'; is the most common finish on wood floors. if so, and if it was recently (re)finished, you should wait for it to cure, I would say at least a couple of weeks, then use a 80 or 100 grit screen, you can rent the Buffer from the Home Depot, and screen the whole floor. and as a final finish, I would use an epoxy type finish. check with the manufacturer to see if primer is recommended.
leave it .
yeah your could but do it with sand paper to rough it up a bit - to make adhearing a bit better - if i may throw in my 2 cents if the floor is at all salvagable DON't paint it - paint is so difficult to get rid of if you wanna go back to the natural look -

Not a good idea. You can cover it up with vinyl tiles in a color you prefer or just rip it off and paint the concrete like someone else mentioned!

NO
if you dont want the linoleium, strip it out and paint your concrete. .paint linoleium.........good grief
I did it- you can get special floor paint in most DIY stores now. But it only stayed for about 3 months, now it looks like dirt because green lino underneath i showing through-yuck.
I'm going to get a new vinyl floor covering to go over it (its a rented house so I can't really strip the lino, anyway removing the glue is hard work..)
I suggest you get a new bit of vinyl like me, for my tiny kitchen I think I could easily do it for under 拢30.

What is best way to remove spray paint from my garage floor?
a former tenant left some black spray paint, of unkwown type, on our concrete garage floorWhat is best way to remove spray paint from my garage floor?
Try 'Gooff off' There's a couple of different kinds so read the label and pick the one that best fits your needs. Next try lacquer thinner, and then acetone.(open all your windows for these) If none of those work you're stuck with either a lot of elbow and scraper stuff or new paint in your choice of colors :)
DWhat is best way to remove spray paint from my garage floor?
reconcrete it
There is a stripper on the market called BIX. It comes with a spray bottle. Follow the directions and cover up the treated areas immediately with a black plastic garbage bag. Let it set overnight.
The next day the spray paint should come right up with clear water and a stiff wire brush.
If you decide to paint the whole floor after.... well....that's a whole lot more work for another day.
Good luck.
paint over it
paint thinner
Try paint remover, or Prime it and paint the entire floor. To a suitable color.

Can I use paint thinner on commercial tile floor to get hair color stains out?
Paint thinner would probably remove the finish on the tiles but not get up the stain. Got some bleach? Try laying paper towels on the stain then saturate them with chlorine bleach. Let sit a few minutes and that should work. Can I use paint thinner on commercial tile floor to get hair color stains out?

try goof-off,it can remove stains without removing the finish, permanent wave solution for normal hair removes haircolor
WD-40 safer than anything....even works on bee stings

Is there a durable way to paint/stain commercial grade vinyl floor tile?
No; is certainly the basic answer. The reason is simple. I'm sure you'll get answers here; as I have seen hundreds of times; SURE...PRIME IT first; scuff it up; etc. Painting Vinyl is like painting tile; or even glass. It isn't porous. The paint has no where to go; but sit on top of the vinyl.
';CAN YOU?'; Certainly you can. Will you be satisfied over the long term? I doubt so. No offense but I wouldn't put my name on such a job.
Even Floor grade/ garage/ basement paints/stains, need a surface to adhere to; be absorbed by to some degree; and considering that a FLOOR gets as much abuse as a Wind Swept Mountain; I suspect you'll be unhappy.
Certainly there are many options; some more labor intensive and expensive than others; but I'm just one old man offering an experienced opinion.

Repairing hardwood floor paint?
My dad (on accident) put a pot on our hardwood kitchen floor and poured almost boiling water into it (don';t ask why) and now there is this big spot or mark where the pot was
I think that it burned off the top layer of paint because the spot is not shiny anymore
how do i go about repairing it? do i use wax or varnish? if so what kind? thanks a lotRepairing hardwood floor paint?
lila,
are you speaking about the polyurethane finish or real PAINT?
if you mean the poly, then just lightly sand the spot and recoat with some oil based polyurethane.
if you mean real PAINT, then sand lightly until the edges are blended and repaint with the same paint.

all the above ideas are good. i painted a plywood floor. i painted a plywood floor once with an outdoor patio and deck stain. it eliminated any preparation and turned out nice and was durable. it turned out flat, but if u don't like it u can put a sealer over it.I want to paint plywood floor in cottage.removed carpet?
We painted our vinyl floor in the kitchen. ';Ace'; Hardware sells a new floor paint that is very good, a little pricey but, covers well and holds through time and wear.
I would clean the floor very well. Then use a good wood filler and sealer, then sand the floor and seal it again. then paint it.
I would prime it with a good primer - cheap start but effective - then square off sections in like 12'; X 12'; and go black and white like the old 50's style and then seal with clear coat. So clean and fresh and would look lovely in a cottage and you could use any colors for decorating.
sand if needed.
sweep and vacuum well.
use Zinsser brand BIN SHELLAC based primer. it has a RED label. this stuff stinks, so have some ventiation or a fan.
it will keep the tannins in the plywood from bleeding through.
don't use the BLUE label. it is water base and the tannins will still bleed through.
then top coat with a good floor and deck paint.
YOU MUST USE A PRIMER B.I.N IS VERRY GOOD

How do you get aerosol paint off of a wood floor.?
an aerosol can of paint exploded on a wood floor and it is white paint. How do you get aerosol paint off of a wood floor.?
Lightly rub turpentine on it ,let stand a few min and wipe up with clean rag.How do you get aerosol paint off of a wood floor.?
Depends on the wood floor. If it is a regular tongue and groove boards. then acetone should do the trick. You will still probably have to refinish, but it will be minimal. If it is a prefinished floor, like pergo, then I am not sure. That could be touchy good luck!!
Acetone.....Sheesh! that would be drastic on an actual wood finished floor. It would take the finish of the wood as well as the over-spray (guessing it is over-spray). All you probably want to do is remove the paint ON the wood finish not take off the finish.
Try the turpentine solution first. Also.... those plastic kitchen scouring pads do a nice job and do little damage to the finish.
Interestingly--- if you DO have a composite floor i.e. Pergo, then a light use of the acetone would work. The finish is Formica-like and very durable to chemicals. Just wear rubber gloves, apply chemical to rag and rub..... did I mention the anti-chemical breathing mask? The house fan? Open windows? This stuff is dangerous and VERY flammable. But turpentine and pad would do the job.
Lotsa luck, and careful knees.
sand it off. restain the wood and bring back the original look. :-)

This may not be real easy to do. If you can get the paint off, the finish will probably come with it. Then, you can refinish the wood by following the directions on the product (you can get from various home stores). From the website listed below come the following excerpt:
How do I remove paint on my hardwood floors? There are splatters everywhere! Also, how do I go about re-sanding and re-sealing those hardwood floors professionally? - Messy Painter
Dear Messy Painter,
How you remove the paint depends on how embedded it is in the wood. If the stains are on the surface you can wipe them away with paint remover applied with a paint brush, using light brush strokes. You can also use stain removing products. If the stain is deep into the wood then gently rub with a fine grit sandpaper. Go slow. Be patient. That done, sand and refinish the floors. You can sand and reseal the floors yourself and still have a “professional” look simply by taking your time and reading the directions on the product packages and the equipment guidebook. You can rent sanding equipment and materials from the hardware store. Neighborhood hardware stores always seem to have people with great advice and experience if you need a live body. Talk with them. One important tip when using a power sander is to keep the sander moving. If you rest in a spot you can gouge the floor.

I would use some of that Goof Off that you can get at Lowes. But I would use a small amount and wipe it clean with water as soon as I get the paint off. I know that stuff says not to use on surfaces like that, but I do all the time and always immediately mop my wood floors with water and/or hardwood cleaner and it is fine. Good luck.
Go to the hardware store and ask for a product named
OOPS
It will remove many unwanted marks from painted surfaces without damaging the finish. How do u get spray paint off a hardwood floor?

I have spilt lots of paint on my fake wooden floor! how do i get rid of the paint without damaging the floor?
I have spilt lots of paint on my fake wooden floor! how do i get rid of the paint without damaging the floor? Its mainly white paint and some magnolia. It has dried. HELP!!!I have spilt lots of paint on my fake wooden floor! how do i get rid of the paint without damaging the floor?
fake floor is made of M.D.F. it will come up no problem. dont use stripper itll take the shine off it. sounds daft but when youve got the thick of it up use coca cola for the fiddly bits in the grooves with a hard tooth brush.I have spilt lots of paint on my fake wooden floor! how do i get rid of the paint without damaging the floor?
I swear don't laugh but window cleaner works great for removing dried paint ,wet paint.....
if emulsion then hot soapy water should do it ..................... if gloss then turps followed by a wash should do it. Good luck
It depends on what type of paint. Any latex paint should come up easily with hot water. Take a towel with hot water on it, wring it out. Allow the towel to sit on the paint for a minute or two to soften it. Then scrape the floor gently (very, very gently so you don't scratch it!) with a putty knife, and watch the paint peel back! If it's a thick layer, you may be able to grab ahold of an end and peel.
If any remains in crevices, you may gently use a steel wool pad to help catch the little bits on the edges and in the ';grain'; of your floor.
If it's any other type of paint, I would recommend contacting a laminate floor manufacturer to see what types of solvents will be safe on your flooring.
If its emulsion, obviously water will take it off. I had gloss on my laminate wooden flooring, it came off with turps without damaging it but it was a slow job. Wipe some turps in it, leave it a minute then rub it like crazy. Definately won't damage your floor.
If it is water paint it should just wash off with soap and water.
They have a new product on the market...its called a drop cloth get it use it
pick up the floor, take it outside and give it a shake - if it dont remove it you will surely have a designer one when it runs all over lol x
is it emulsion or gloss/
emulsion will wash away using water and loads of paper towels or old clothes to clean use warm water and washing liquid you are wanting to clear all the paint away when you have cleared alot of the paint away scrub the last bit using a sponge scrub lightly remove last of paint.
if its gloss its going to be tougher end of day you have ruined the wood just put thinner on it and keep rubbing with old clothes and soak up the paint and try lifted it all off.
maybe white spirits(turps) will help, gud luk wiv that one
Topps Tiles do a remover which is ok for wooden floors.
There are paint removers, that soften the paint.

Can you get paint to paint over floor tiles?
If so does it look ok?Can you get paint to paint over floor tiles?
yes, it's definitely doable and can look nice with a pattern, stencil, faux ceramic look or designs. (painting with a single uniform color can show all the brush marks and floor imperfections and not look as good) There are professionals who will treat the tiles with light sanding and cleaning, and then spray paint the tiles. If using paint on floor tiles, than the paint will need to be long-wearing and a primer paint put down after sanding and cleaning thoroughly. To paint the tile, first clean thoroughly, and sand lightly, then seal the floor properly with primer/sealer then use a enamel-based paint. Painted tiles may not wear as well, because the paint is a thin layer of color and subject to chipping with the foot traffic, so after painting with the color enamel paint, plan to recoat the paint with a couple layers of clear polyurethane and up to 3 -4 coats in the higher traffic areas like entry way and in front of the fridge, sink, stove. The polyurethane clear-coats can be evenly mopped onto the floor using lambswool pads. Can you get paint to paint over floor tiles?
Hi Ya
Go to a good paint store and explain you requirments, if the tiles are ceramic you can get paint for them, but it will only last for a while but it should be ok if you tret it with care. people used to paint the tiles outside the front door in years gone bye and it lasted ages.
Bye for now
I don`t personally think its a good idea to paint floor tile just to change the colour, for 2 reasons floor are hard wearing it take a lot of banging and scraping with moving things on it, secondly the material its made of its not ideally make for painting its not absorbing en ought. Most ceramic tile have a glazed finish which is not suitable for painting.
What kind of tiles? Ceramic, vinyl, parquet, rubber, cork?
If you meant ceramic, I for one have never seen a paint that would hold up to foot traffic.
If you're in a jam you could try a two-part epoxy type coating which would have the best durability. But even that stuff might not get enough 'grip' on a ceramic tile.
It totally depends upon the type of tile. You have not mentioned the tile type.
You can get paint that will go over anything. Check out your local supplier.

Being a landlord, I'd freak out if you used paint thinner or turpentine and it damaged the tile. Then you have a bigger problem. gently scrape it if that is possible. Or else use paint thinner to wipe it off.
Get on your hands and knees and scrub.

Check with your local tile showrooms. They may have closeouts on stock items or discontinued tiles that would be economical for you and enough to cover the floor space that you need.
Also check your local thrift stores or Habitat ReStores. They sometimes are given tile closeouts and they resell them for less than the original price.kids hair

Everything will help.
Thanks! What paint colors, lighting %26amp; (stamped concrete) floor colors would you chose for a Mattress Store?
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the ';painted'; rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:
http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/
I think a pale green like ';lacewing'; (# 6729) would be perfect. It's very tranquil %26amp; relaxing. Then do a teal for the floor. As for the lighting, you might want to consult a lighting designer for your best options. What paint colors, lighting %26amp; (stamped concrete) floor colors would you chose for a Mattress Store?
bright colors like lime green give a startling, nearly dizzing shock to the eyes, whereas beige white, and other soft colors induce feelings of comfort, simalar to a comfy bed. so soft, neutral colors are good.Perhaps you could find a cheap but fluffy carpet to match, but if it's not possible red, green, or brown are good colors. Please tell me how it goes!

Prime with a concrete bonding primer:

http://www.epoxyproducts.com/acid.html
http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/1-part-e鈥?/a>
After concrete is clean, etched and dry apply the concrete bonding primer.

All these products are available at Home Depot. The drying and curing time are curcial to the paint working.

All these products are available at Home Depot. The drying and curing time are curcial to the paint working.

Im an artist. I have splattered acrylic paint over my tile floor and on the walls. How can I remove it?
Someone mentioned using ';Goof-off'; for the walls. Can I use bleach for the floors?
Any suggestions?
Thanks!Im an artist. I have splattered acrylic paint over my tile floor and on the walls. How can I remove it?
DO NOT USE BLEACH. This can really mess things up, it'll look worse than paint splatters.
Scrape off any big thick blobs with a scraper like you use to get ice off a wind shield, or pallet knife. If you are lucky once you have a blob started you might be able to peel the rest up. Then anything else that's thinner, use a gentle scouring method, maybe try to use a plastic based scouring pad, or an old fashioned kitchen/bathroom (bleach free) cleaning powder. Carefully little by little try to scrub the paint off. It should break up and come away with very minimal/no damage to the surface it's on.Im an artist. No bleach, please!
Peel as much as you can or scrap by using a palette knife.
Use regular rubbing alcohol with cotton balls to clean the residue

Can I somehow paint or stain a tile floor?
I have 12'; tiles in my kitchen, and they are in perfect shape, but they have a light pinkish hue, and the color is just horrible. I don't want to have to rip up the old ones, because it's a big room. Anyone? Can I somehow paint or stain a tile floor?
Can't stain... You can technically paint them with the sort of latex enamel ';reglazing'; kits like are used for bathroom walls/tubs. However, because of the high traffic you get in a kitchen, I wouldn't recommend it. Ripping up the old ones is your best option if you want to do new tile. Technically, you can lay cement board over it and then tile over that, but um... not really the best idea since you'll add about 1'; of height to the floor and it can be weird... plus it may have some structural issues in doing that anyway (not standard practice to say the least).
You CAN install floating laminate (the click-in kind, not glued or nailed) over tile. That's probably your best and most practical solution if you don't want to rip out the tile -- it's durable, can be cheap, comes in a variety of colors/textures/styles, and relatively easy to take out if you decide you want to rip out/replace the tile later. Can I somehow paint or stain a tile floor?
no, sorry. The only option is to cover them with carpet (weird in a kitchen) or tear them up and replace them.
