Can I paint hardwood floor with regular interior paint??

i just moved into a new house, and my room has hard floor.

It looks like it has already been painted. so i can't stain it.

And i'm on a very low budget...

I'm only going to be staying in this house for a few months though.

so i need a quick and cheap solution to my problem.

no you may not paint it with reg indoor paint

im alic painting contractor

you must sand prime then paint

now you may want to add color to your primer for ease of cover

USE A FLAT ENAMEL ONLY see told you so you dont know what they used on top of the paint

good luckCan I paint hardwood floor with regular interior paint??
I would go to a paint store, like sherwin williams, even a home depot or a lowes and ask a specialist what is the best technique... If you are renting, you better ask first though, because you could get in trouble for the the paint.
You can get floor paints at Lowe's and Home Depot that don't cost that much, but it also depends on how large of an area you are talking about. I think a gal can will cover 200 sq ft

Or rent a sanding machine and get after it, you will be surprised at how well hard wood floors Will sand out, and then you can clear coat it with urethane.

Also talk with your land lord about this job and maybe let him have some input on the color and he may take the cost of the materials off of your rent.
Yes, you can paint it with regular indoor paint, however it will not wear very well.

But, as you are not staying long it should last a few months.
u can paint it like that but the paint will wear pretty quickly. If this is in ur budget u can sand prime the floor first. Then paint it. I've encountered this problem before.
No, you can't paint a hardwood floor with regular exterior paint. It will not endure the foot traffic. They do make floor paints however these are usually used in exterior applications.

You could strip the floor and stain it black and then put a coat of finish on it however this would be time consuming and very costly.

The cheap way to go would be to try traffic paint or floor paint. Do not put a thick coat, it will not dry correctly if you do.
I would clean it with TSP, then primer with a thinned oil based primer, then use a oil based paint, use a good roller and a good quality brush. You are looking at about $75. But you could just use some black paint and spend $25, but didnt anyone ever tell you to do the best job you can, heck think of the next person that is going to live there, they will be glad you did a good job that is still usable, and its not all peeling off, geez.
I would not. it will not hold up at all. Behr makes very good paint and stains that will last a very long time. I don`t work for behr I` ve just painted my hole life and I know what works. And you can pick any color you want. Do it right the first time and you wont cry later. But if money is the problem clean it very well and use a good primer and it may last a year. The higher the gloss the longer the paint will last. Go to home depot and look for the oops paint. Some times you can find really good paint for all most nothing. Check out behr.com or glidden.com and you can play with colors there. It will show you a picture of a room and you can put a color in the room any where you want. It`s cool!

oh! you can use exterior in side but you cant use interior out side because of the uv raze and primers.
You need to do some prep work first. Go to a local reputable paint store, or home improvement store, like Lowe's or Home Depot. Talk to the people in the paint dept. They should be able to tell you what kind of paint to use that will hold up. They probably will also tell you you need to take off most of the old paint first, like sanding it with an electric floor sander, then vacumning the floor well. You will need to mop the floor to get all the grit and dust with an appropriate cleaner for wood floors. New paint will not adhere to old paint, especially if the old paint had a gloss or semi-gloss finish. You also will need to use regular floor paint, not wall paint.
OK...first off...no regular house paint will hold up with you walking on it. It's going to need to be a floor paint or a hard Urethane paint.

Next and most important...is this a RENT house??? If so, you better get the landlords permission before you paint anything....otherwise he could hold you responsible for damages which might reach the $1,000's to have his floors sanded and re-done.
